Lupus Ontario gives support by telephone networking and counselling for new patients, holding support meetings for discussion, learning and sharing, and maintaining an up to date website. Lupus Ontario Educates by producing and distributing information via pamphlets, newsletters, videos and the website, holding symposiums and workshops to learn from experts. Lupus Ontario inreases awareness by displays in malls, health fairs and forums, speaking to groups such as service clubs and community organizations, encouraging local and national media to include stories about lupus. Lupus Ontario encourages research by assisting in funding of Lupus Clinics, funding a full year fellowship for a Rheumatologist to study lupus, funding research pilot projects and ongoing studies as funds are available. Lupus Ontario raise monies from memberships, donations, memorials and bequests, item sales (wristbands, hats) and special events.
